Fitchburg State University (FSU) recently hosted its annual writing contest for local high school students. The 2026 prompt highlighted FSU's "Year of Momentum" theme. Student writers were encouraged to consider the idea of momentum — progress, change, expansion, improvement, and growth — and how momentum can be exciting, invigorating, or challenging.

NMRSD and Local Public Safety Agencies to Bring Awareness to the Danger of Impaired or Distracted Driving with Mock Crash

With prom and graduation season approaching, students at North Middlesex Regional School District are working with Townsend Police and Pepperell Police and Fire to demonstrate the impact of distracted or impaired driving by hosting a mock crash.

Chief James Sartell and Chief of Department Gary Shepherd report that Townsend Police and Townsend Fire and EMS are working with the Patriot Regional Emergency Communications Center, state and municipal partners and professional information technology vendors to investigate and mitigate to a cyberattack that has impacted some Townsend public safety systems.
