From the Principal’s Desk…

Dear North Middlesex Families,

On Tuesday, November 14, 2017 the North Middlesex Music Department held its 9th Annual Tri-M Music Honor Society Induction Ceremony. This year, seven students were welcomed to this prestigious society for their musical & academic achievements, service, and their leadership and character traits.  Tri-M stands for Modern Music Masters and membership is now complete for this school year at thirty-five students. Members represent music students in grades 10-12 who serve as role models and mentors in NM’s TEN Performance Ensembles and throughout all District Music Departments.

The ceremony was led by Senior Alex N. who is this year’s Tri-M President along with other members of the Executive Board. Those students include Erin W., Secretary and Michael A. and Ben M., Co-Treasurers. A special thank you to our key-note speaker, Mr. John Blackwell (Erin W.’s grandfather). Mr. Blackwell retired after thirty seven years teaching music and directing Bands and Choirs at Oakmont Regional High School. His message was universal and delivered with humor much to the delight of students and parents alike. “Musicians are capable of great things as evidenced by all of the great things they’ve already accomplished!”

Advisor Mrs. Michelle Blake’s closing words included congratulatory wishes and a reminder about what makes music important. While music is a disciplined academic study and mastery of knowledge, skill, and technique, what makes it special is that it can be shared and touches people's hearts.

Congratulations once again to Lindsey J., Catherine K., Jacob M., Abigail N., Evelyn P., Maddie S., & Austin W.!

Winter Festival Fair

The NM Student Council will be hosting their first annual Winter Festival Fair in the NM Commons (Cafe) on Friday, December 15 from 4pm to 8pm.  This is a great opportunity to get those last minute gifts for the holidays.  For example, young guests can be entertained in the Disney Princess Activity Room sponsored by the Advanced Choir for a small fee.  There will also be club, activity, and class fundraisers as well as local vendors.  Remember to reserve the date: Friday, December 15th (4-8pm).
