NM Knows!

Principal Taylor's weekly look at the academic and creative world that is NM

October 13, 2017

Mr. Sturm's AP Physics classes tested the action of forces on a watermelon, whose structure is similar to that of the human brain. Students worked together to place groups of 10 rubber bands at a time on a watermelon.  Then, they carefully observed for small cracks or leaking juices to signal that the melon was ready to pop. The students watched in awe as the external forces of the rubber bands on the outer wall of the watermelon overcame the internal structural integrity causing it to cave and inevitably explode!

Riddle of the Week
A thief enters a shop and threatens the clerk, forcing him to open the safe. The clerk says, "The code for the safe is different every day, and if you hurt me you'll never get the code." The thief manages to guess the code on his own. How does he do it?
