From the Principal’s Desk…

Dear North Middlesex Families,

As many of you know,  NM teachers offer extra help sessions before school, and there are a number of clubs and activities that meet in the mornings. To help facilitate these meetings beginning Monday 10/2, students attending before school meetings and extra help sessions will be able to go directly to the relevant classrooms. Students should check with their teachers ahead of time to see when extra help is offered. All students who arrive early are still welcome to sit in the common area until 7:00, when they can go to advisory.

National Merit Scholarship Program: Semifinalist

Principal Isaac Taylor announced today that Emma Giannini of North Middlesex Regional High School has been named a semifinalist in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

About 16,000 students throughout the nation are semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.  These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.  About 90% of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

Congratulations to Emma on a job well done!

National Merit Scholarship Program: Commended Students

Principal Isaac Taylor  announced today that Hadley Beauregard, Noah Lauziere, and Paul O’Friel of North Middlesex Regional High School have been named Commended Students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of the more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PAST/NMSQT ®).

Congratulations to Hadley, Noah, and Paul on a job well done!

NMRS Scholarship Foundation - NMRHS

Canning Drive - Earn Your Point - Oct 13 or Oct 14

Fall Canning:  Oct 13, Friday:  4:00-8:00pm and Saturday, Oct 14, 8:00am-12:00noon

Canning locations will be in Pepperell, Townsend and Ashby.  To earn your point, you must fulfill a 2 hour time slot of canning.  Cans will be picked up and returned to NMRHS on day of event.

What is a point?  Earn your point for the Scholarship Foundation.  Participation points are a part of how scholarship awards are evaluated. Students can earn 1 point per year of high school. By senior year, the student's points are tallied/weighed as part of the rubric used by the Scholarship Selection Committee, reflecting the number and types of ways the student volunteered for the NMRS Scholarship Foundation during his/her years at NM

In early Spring of Senior year, graduating students are invited to submit an NMRS Scholarship Application.  A Selection Committee consisting of Foundation members (excluding those with a graduating senior) and at least one NMRHS administrator, reviews the applications to determine awards. Applications are presented anonymously (the guidance office removes names and applies numbers to the applications) to ensure unbiased decisions are made.
