Knowledge STEMs from New Facilities
As the new NM begins to take shape, I have become increasingly excited about our emerging science facilities. In addition to state of the art science labs, we will have a STEM suite and a dedicated robotics lab. This week, I asked our engineering teachers to discuss how they plan to utilize these spaces.
"I am excited about utilizing the new STEM space as we start up our engineering concentration. For the student working in the Internet of Things course, this area will provide a clean, spacious, innovative environment to work in, while developing skills in computer programming, electronic circuit creation and sensor feedback systems." -Mr. O'Connor
"The engineering classes will utilize the STEM area for major projects including Siege Engine Project (Catapults/Trebuchets), Biomechanical Project, CO2 Cars, Concrete Cylinder Stress Tests, Manufacturing Cube Project and more. Many projects will start in the CAD lab where designs will be created on the computer. The STEM lab will then be utilized to make the designs into reality!" -Mr. Dellasanta
"Having a dedicated Robotics Lab will better accommodate the students' needs and increase their robotics experience. Also, having the space for a full competition field will benefit the Robotics Team as well as the classes with a larger space for safer robotic movement and experimentation." -Mr. Landry
