From the Principal’s Desk…

Dear North Middlesex Families,

After a very short week, today we have arrived  at the end of the first semester! Students will receive their semester two schedules in advisory on Monday, and will start any new semester classes they are signed up for on Monday as well. Second quarter report cards will be mailed home by Monday, January 30.

A reminder that our annual Program of Studies Evening for the 2017-2018 academic year will take place on Thursday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m. The evening will begin in the auditorium, with information about our curriculum opportunities in the new building, and a walk through of the process of signing up for classes. Parents and students will then be invited to our curriculum fair, where specific information about the classes offered by all our departments will be available, and subject specialists will be on hand to answer questions. This evening is open to all current students as well as current seventh and eighth graders and their families. By the end of the day on February 7, grades nine through eleven will have received their program of studies packet in advisory, and grade eight students will have received their packets in homerooms.

Sincerely,

Isaac Taylor

Principal

Choir Boosters ‘Casino Night’

Don’t miss Casino Night 2017 on Saturday, February 11th, benefiting the NMRHS Choral program!  Over the past several months, we’ve been working tirelessly to bring you an evening of entertainment, fun and great prizes – all in support of our choral program and students. One-hundred percent of the funds raised at Casino Night will go directly to the choral program to provide music and concert attire, produce concerts, and support our kids as they perform in NYC this spring.

Tickets are just $40 in advance ($45 at the door) and include a dinner buffet at 6pm, gaming from

7pm - 9:30pm, and prizes awarded at 9:30pm!  Tickets are going quickly – so get yours now and have an early Valentine’s Day celebration with us! To reserve your tickets, email nmchoirboosters@gmail.com.

NM Choir Boosters will be meeting Tuesdays Jan. 24, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 at 6:30 pm in the choir room to prepare for the upcoming Casino Night fundraiser. If you have a child in the choral program, please consider sending at least one person to attend these meetings. Thank you

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is now available for all North Middlesex High School students!

BYOD is an option, not a requirement, allowing students and staff to bring in their personal devices and connect them to the district wireless for internet access.  Personal devices will not have access to network folders or printing.  For more on the district policy regarding personal technology, please see the “Personal Technology” section on page 3 of the district Empowered Digital Use Agreement located at http://www.nmrsd.org/sites/default/files/policymanual/PolicyIJNDB-R.pdf.

The difference between accessing the internet through BYOD versus the Guest portal is that Guest accounts are only granted for 8 hours at a time and are more limited in potential bandwidth as well as the number of concurrent guest users.  BYOD access is granted to a device until that device has been inactive on the network for 2 weeks.

To access the district wireless from a personal device follow the applicable directions:

Apple and Windows Devices:

1)    Select the wifi network called “NMRSD_SECURE”

2)    Enter the owner’s district username and password (same as their computer login)

3)    When prompted with a Certificate message related to vipcp.nmrsd.org click “Trust”

Chromebooks and Android Devices:

1)    Select the wifi network called “NMRSD_SECURE”

2)    Enter the following:

a.    EAP Method = PEAP

b.    Phase 2 Authentication = MSCHAPV2

c.    CA Certificate = (unspecified)

d.    Identity = Enter the owner’s district username (same as their computer login)

e.    Anonymous identity = (leave blank)

f.     Password = Enter the owner’s district password (same as their computer login)
