From the Principal’s Desk…

Dear North Middlesex Families,

One of our goals this year has been to improve student punctuality and attendance. I am really pleased with our progress so far, particularly with the reduction in students who are late to school. We would like to continue to improve, and the faculty is very appreciative of all the support we have had from the community.

Please be aware that Tuesday, March 21 will be a full day for students. Originally this day was scheduled as early release, but this was changed due to MCAS testing.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is now available for all North Middlesex High School students!

BYOD is an option, not a requirement, allowing students and staff to bring in their personal devices and connect them to the district wireless for internet access.  Personal devices will not have access to network folders or printing.  For more on the district policy regarding personal technology, please see the “Personal Technology” section on page 3 of the district Empowered Digital Use Agreement located at http://www.nmrsd.org/sites/default/files/policymanual/PolicyIJNDB-R.pdf.

The difference between accessing the internet through BYOD versus the Guest portal is that Guest accounts are only granted for 8 hours at a time and are more limited in potential bandwidth as well as the number of concurrent guest users.  BYOD access is granted to a device until that device has been inactive on the network for 2 weeks.

To access the district wireless from a personal device follow the applicable directions:

Apple and Windows Devices:

1)    Select the wifi network called “NMRSD_SECURE”

2)    Enter the owner’s district username and password (same as their computer login)

3)    When prompted with a Certificate message related to vipcp.nmrsd.org click “Trust”

Chromebooks and Android Devices:

1)    Select the wifi network called “NMRSD_SECURE”

2)    Enter the following:

a.    EAP Method = PEAP

b.    Phase 2 Authentication = MSCHAPV2

c.    CA Certificate = (unspecified)

d.    Identity = Enter the owner’s district username (same as their computer login)

e.    Anonymous identity = (leave blank)

f.     Password = Enter the owner’s district password (same as their computer login)

North Middlesex Regional High School is the proud recipient of a grant from The Patterson Family Foundation and Scholastic Reading Club in the amount of $3,300.00.  The purpose of this grant is to help rejuvenate school libraries in an effort to dramatically increase the chances of students finding a book they love and becoming readers for life.  Congratulations to NMRHS librarian Kathy Penney for making this grant a reality.
