After another successful Veterans day breakfast, I was reflecting on the role of veterans on the educational process. It was wonderful to hear the conversations that our students were having with current and retired members of the armed services. What was most powerful was the honesty that many of the veterans demonstrated when they discussed their experiences, including the mistakes they made along the way, and how they grew stronger through these experiences.
Speaking to our local veterans last week, and watching them interact with our students, it was clear that military veterans have a lot to offer, through their example of service, and the skills and insights they develop. The next generation of Americans can benefit from the experience and hard won qualifications of veterans from all walks of life.
