From the Principal’s Desk…

Dear North Middlesex Families,

This week in advisory, students and staff marked Thankful Thursday by using sticky notes to write something they are grateful for about another person in the school community. They then ‘delivered’ the notes by placing them where the person would see them (e.g. a locker, phone, cleaning cart). I was really encouraged by many of the notes that I saw. Through their comments, students demonstrated what they value at NM: supportive friendships, individuality, respect, and their coaches, staff and teachers.

Tomorrow (Saturday 9/24) New Orleans Service Learning will be hosting their annual Fun(d) fest at the high school to support their work in New Orleans. If you are able, please join them for a great time playing games and eating food! There will be prizes, face painting and more! Buy a Critter Patty Bingo Ticket from any NOLA member for the chances win the first place prize $300, second place prize $200, and third place prize $100! We are looking forward to seeing you there!

We are in the midst of college visit season, with college representatives visiting the school to talk to students. Please see the list of upcoming college visits at the bottom of the email. Interested students should sign up on Naviance.

Sincerely,

Isaac Taylor

Principal

Senior college preparation classes

The guidance department is currently in the process of visiting  senior English classes so that they have the opportunity to provide a broad overview of the college application process.  During these classroom visits counselors are discussing application criteria and choices, the financial aid process, standardized testing (ACT/SAT), letters of recommendation, and other pertinent information. Counselors are stressing the importance of being calm and organized during this demanding and potentially stressful time!

NM ATHLETICS

Athletic Department Requests/Reminders

Requests:

If you have any photos or plan on taking photos at any of the NM athletic events, would you please email them to jbunnell@nmrsd.org so I may put them on display on the monitor in the athletic hall.

If you or someone you know has any gently used crutches that may be lying around, the athletic department is always looking for extra sets. You can drop them off at the front office to the attention of Mr. Bunnell.

Thank you in advance for supporting NM Athletics!

Reminders:

Injuries- The season is now in high gear and injuries are occurring, both minor and major. Please make sure that your son/daughter reports any injuries to the coach and trainer so the injury can be assessed and addressed. Parents please remember to inform the nurse’s office with any information that you feel is important so that the school can best accommodate your child.

Equipment Care- All athletes need to remember to bring their uniforms and equipment home after use to be cleaned. Please wash thoroughly, and let uniforms and equipment air dry. Using a dryer can damage uniforms and equipment, shortening their life and effectiveness.

Thank you for helping us better serve your children!

NM Patriot Boosters

NM Patriot Boosters are again doing their “GEAR UP” Athletic Apparel Fundraiser. The sale started 9/21 and ends 10/6. All checks are to be made payable to the NM Boosters. Payment and order forms are to be turned into Mr. Bunnell no later than 10/6. The sale flyer and order form can be found outside of the athletic office or by clicking the following link:

The NM boosters are always looking for volunteers for the concession stand and other club related tasks. Please email Patty Collins, President, nmboosters@gmail.com  if you are interested in contributing.
