From the Principal’s Desk…

Dear North Middlesex Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome back all of our students and staff! I am very excited about this year, and looking forward to celebrating the successes of our students, in all their many forms. I was very happy with the first week of school, in particular the punctuality, enthusiasm, and hard work of our students. Our second annual Patriot Pride day was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a memorable day.

Next Thursday, September 8 is our annual Open House beginning at 6pm. Please join your child on a tour of his or her schedule, for the chance to meet teachers and have an overview of class syllabi.

Occasionally the high school will ask students to ‘shelter in place’ in their classrooms. This is usually because we are managing a medical situation, and would like to maintain privacy for any staff or students involved. When this occurs, I do not contact families. However, if we were to have a lockdown or security issue, I will send out a Connect Ed as soon as it is prudent to do so.

This year all students will have a ten minute advisory every morning at 7:15 a.m. The purpose of this advisory is to provide grounding for students as they navigate a rotating schedule that changes every day! Students will stay with their advisor for all four years of high school, and will have the benefit of an advisory curriculum developed by our teachers. I will be providing more information about our advisory program in the first issue of NM Knows on Monday, September 6. In this weekly publication I aim to give you a principal’s eye view of instruction at NM, using pictures, words, and interviews.

As you may know, we now have a full time School Resource Officer (SRO) at NM. Officer Davis will be available as a resource for students, teachers and administration. His goal is to get to know every student in the building. If you would like to contact him his email is bdavis@nmrsd.org.

Sincerely,

Isaac Taylor

Principal
