The MCAS Competency Determination Exams dates are:
English Language Arts, March 21-23, 2017
Mathematics, May 16-17, 2017
Science June 5-6, 2017
We will be starting the school day at our normal starting time and relocating some classes so that sophomores have an optimal testing environment.
Students who need accommodations will be notified of their locations separately.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has increased their security measures for the MCAS testing so that all students will have fair opportunities to succeed. Students need to be prepared for these changes.
Students should not bring electronic devices with them on testing days or, if they must have their cell phone, they should be prepared to put all of their belongings in a designated location on the side of the room and not interact with the devices until the testing period is completely over. To help maintain the security of the testing area, we ask that parents refrain from texting or calling students. Please contact the main office at 978-597-8721 if there is an immediate concern.
Students are only allowed to have water at their desks. Snacks as well as all other beverages including coffee, tea, or juices will not be allowed during testing. We recommend that students eat a healthy breakfast before testing, as the test can be physically and mentally tiring for some students; however, some students find that having mints or gum is a helpful aid for concentration. Students should also bring a hard cover or paperback book (electronic devices are not allowed) that they can read after they complete their exam.
MCAS testing affects the entire NM staff and student body. As the testing dates get closer, more information will be available for NM students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 978-597-8721 or at email@example.com.
