 Choral Program

Concert Choir students explore a wide range of vocal music from the Renaissance period to contemporary music of today. Students will sing in a variety of styles and gain an understanding of what makes the musical periods different from one another. Emphasis is placed on personal musical development. This includes study in the voice as an instrument, music notation, and working with others to achieve the goals of the organization. Students will perform two or three times a year. Grades are based on participation, concert attendance and demonstrated knowledge of musical concepts. Finally, students are highly encouraged to perform in the MICCA festival in the spring.

Accelerated Voice is a course in which the vocal and musical development begun in Concert Choir is continued with a higher level of proficiency. Emphasis is placed on solo singing, vocal technique and style and full ensemble performance. Advanced Voice students will have the opportunity to audition for Central District and All-State Chorus.
